New here! Just got my first lineolated parakeet

Hey everyone! I'm from Barrie and I just brought home my first bird ever — a lineolated parakeet named Mango. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.

So what I ended up doing was putting the food bowl higher up — birds feel safer eating at height. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I'd suggest trying covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.
