TIL about Quaker parrot lifespan and I'm shook

I knew parrots lived long but I just looked up actual documented lifespans and some Quaker parrot have lived over 40 years in captivity. My Luna could outlive me. Has anyone here actually thought about a plan for their bird if something happens to them? This just got real.

My Poppy read this post over my shoulder and started nodding. I'm only slightly concerned.

My Quaker parrot did this too! Turned out it was because of boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.

If you're near Roncesvalles, PetSmart on Eglinton Ave actually has a decent bird section. Better than most locations.

So what I ended up doing was playing calming bird sounds from YouTube during the day. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.
