How much should a lineolated parakeet eat daily?

I feel like my lineolated parakeet either eats like a truck or barely touches their food depending on the day. What's a normal amount? I free-feed pellets and offer fresh food twice a day. Am I doing this right?

Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My lineolated parakeet finally stopped screaming when I leave the room after I tried putting a bird lamp on a 12/12 timer to simulate natural daylight cycles.

This reminds me of when I first got Peaches. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
