I've tried everything — finely chopped, mashed, hidden in other food, on skewers, in foraging toys. My canary refuses ALL vegetables. Fruit is fine but I know they need veggies too. Help!

Every time I cook, Skittles sits on top of the fridge and watches with this intensely disapproving expression. When I drop something or burn something they make this little disappointed chirp. I am being critiqued by a creature that eats pellets. Anyone else feel watched in their own kitchen?

There's a great bird supply store in Pickering that carries exactly what you need. I go there all the time.

I have a similar story. My parrotlet used to do the exact same thing. I remember being SO frustrated until one day it just clicked. Patience is truly the key with birds.

Been thinking about adopting a rescue instead of buying from a breeder. Any experiences with rescue birds in Ontario? What should I expect in terms of behavioral challenges? Which rescue organizations do you recommend?

I actually disagree with this. In my experience with my lineolated parakeet, the opposite was true. But I know every bird is different.

The longer days have triggered full hormonal mode in my caique. Gizmo is being territorial, regurgitating on everything, and screaming more than usual. I know it passes but MAN it's exhausting. What are your strategies for managing hormonal season?

Planning a trip for the summer and wondering how far in advance I should book a bird sitter. Last December I left it too late and struggled to find anyone in Kitchener who knows birds. Lesson learned!
