New here! Just got my first caique

Hey everyone! I'm from Oshawa and I just brought home my first bird ever — a caique named Rio. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.

Do you have other pets in the home? My caique started acting differently when we got a cat.

Oh man, this brings back memories. When we were dealing with this with Snowball, I thought we'd never get through it. Now it's just a funny memory. It gets better, I promise.

I remember when my caique went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.

Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep was the game changer for us.

I switched to Harrison's pellets last year and haven't looked back. My caique's feathers have never looked better.

Totally agree with this! My caique is exactly the same way.
