Welcome! I remember being a new bird owner and this kind of community helped SO much. Excited to have you!

If you're in Liberty Village, check out the avian vet on Steeles Ave. They're amazing with canary specifically.

Bumblefoot in Pionus?💊 Health & Wellness

I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation.

Hi all! I just adopted a lovebird and I'm already head over heels but also completely overwhelmed. So many questions: what pellets do you recommend? How do I know if they're sick? Is it normal for them to sneeze? How do I get them to trust me? I've been googling non-stop but real owner experiences are worth way more. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Yes!! My Blu does this too. caique owners can relate.

New here! Just got my first budgie👋 Introduce Yourself

Hey everyone! I'm from Burlington and I just brought home my first bird ever — a budgie named Storm. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.

I got mine from Ren's Pets in High Park. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.

Interesting take! I see your point but I've had a completely different experience. My budgie actually...

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Bird Sitting Toronto. Left my budgie with them for 10 days while we visited family and Biscuit came home happy and healthy. They sent daily photo updates. Honestly the best experience. Highly recommend for anyone in Parkdale!

Hello! Been lurking on this forum for a bit and finally decided to make an account and participate. I've had my Indian ringneck Mochi for about 4 years now. Always nice to connect with other bird people in the GTA — most people I know think I'm crazy for having a bird lol. Excited to be here!

I used to think the same thing until my blue and gold macaw proved me wrong. Now I'm firmly in the other camp.

I'd suggest trying putting a bird lamp on a 12/12 timer to simulate natural daylight cycles. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.

Share your chop recipe!🥦 Diet & Nutrition

If you're in Milton, check out the avian vet on Dundas St. They're amazing with parrotlet specifically.

I've tried a bunch of brands and Lafeber NutriBerries is hands down the best value. My Maple devours it.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Bird Sitting Toronto. Left my lineolated parakeet with them for 10 days while we visited family and Noodle came home happy and healthy. They sent daily photo updates. Honestly the best experience. Highly recommend for anyone in Kitchener!

This made my day honestly. sun conure owners are the best people. We're all just trying our best for our feathered kids.

Check out Ren's Pets — they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.

Okay but counterpoint — what about birds that are the complete opposite? My parrotlet breaks every rule lol.

Absolutely love hearing success stories! This gives me so much hope for me and Kiwi. Thank you for sharing!

I've done a ton of research on this because my budgie had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is a subtle environmental change you might not even notice. What worked for us was target training first, then building up to step-up. I also started joining an online support group for lineolated parakeet owners and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
