My Indian Ringneck is afraid of everything new

Literally everything. New toy? Terrified. New perch? Hides in corner. Even wore a new hat and they had a meltdown. Is this normal Indian ringneck behavior or is my bird extra anxious?

I used to think the same thing until my Indian ringneck proved me wrong. Now I'm firmly in the other camp.

Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing the type of water dish and just being really patient. They come around eventually.

Reading this hit home. My Indian ringneck went through the same phase around the same age. What helped us was putting the food bowl higher up — birds feel safer eating at height. Also just accepting that birds are gonna bird, you know?
