Java tree perch stands — worth the price?

Splurged on a java tree stand for my zebra finch and WOW, Sunny loves it. But it was $150+ which is steep. It's beautiful, sturdy, and the varied branch sizes are great for foot health. But is there a cheaper alternative that works just as well? What play stands do you use?

Did this start suddenly or was it gradual? When my zebra finch did this it turned out to be the cage being in a high-traffic or drafty location.
