My Quaker parrot just figured out how to open their cage latch. I'm both impressed and terrified. What's the smartest thing your bird has done? I swear they understand way more than we think.

Couldn't agree more. This has been my experience as well.

A friend who's had birds for 20 years told me to try using a stainless steel cage with proper bar spacing for the species. I was skeptical but it actually worked.
