Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My lovebird finally stopped only eating seeds after I tried offering chop first thing in the morning when they're hungriest.

A friend who's had birds for 20 years told me to try covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I was skeptical but it actually worked.

My vet in Newmarket suggested adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.

Oh my bird did this for about a few days and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist. A lot of people also recommend making sure there are no drafts near the cage. Have you tried adding foraging opportunities to at least 3 different spots in the cage? That's what solved this issue for us. Game changer honestly.

Did this start suddenly or was it gradual? When my blue and gold macaw did this it turned out to be dry winter air from forced-air heating.
