Hot take: Amazon parrot are actually easier than people think

I see SO many posts about how Amazon parrot are difficult birds. Honestly? After owning one for 18 months, I think they're one of the more manageable parrots IF you put in the time upfront. The key is consistency. Am I completely wrong? Fight me.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is putting the food bowl higher up — birds feel safer eating at height. A lot of people also recommend adding more variety in perch textures and sizes. I've done a ton of research on this because my Amazon parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is not enough quality sleep — they need 10-12 hours uninterrupted. What worked for us was covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I also started rotating toys weekly so they always have something "new" and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
