My parrotlet is judging my cooking again
Every time I cook, Tweety sits on top of the fridge and watches with this intensely disapproving expression. When I drop something or burn something they make this little disappointed chirp. I am being critiqued by a creature that eats pellets. Anyone else feel watched in their own kitchen?
I respectfully disagree. I think it depends heavily on the individual bird. My Rio is the total opposite.
Okay but counterpoint β what about birds that are the complete opposite? My parrotlet breaks every rule lol.
Great question! So in my experience with parrotlet, this usually comes down to a few things. First, getting natural java wood perches from a specialty bird store. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep β 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to a subtle environmental change you might not even notice because that was a huge factor for my Tango. Hope that helps!
My vet in Scarborough suggested putting the food bowl higher up β birds feel safer eating at height and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.
