My African Grey is jealous of my phone
If I look at my phone for more than 30 seconds, Lucky marches over and sits ON the screen. They've accidentally liked posts, called contacts, and once placed an Amazon order. I now have to keep my phone face down or deal with a jealous African grey. Relate?
I've done a ton of research on this because my African grey had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is a change in routine or schedule. What worked for us was using a stainless steel cage with proper bar spacing for the species. I also started reading "The Parrot Problem Solver" by Barbara Heidenreich and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
Oh man, this brings back memories. When we were dealing with this with Pistachio, I thought we'd never get through it. Now it's just a funny memory. It gets better, I promise.
Reading this hit home. My African grey went through the same phase around the same age. What helped us was putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging. Also just accepting that birds are gonna bird, you know?
I got mine from a local bird shop in Burlington. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.
