Just wanted to give a shoutout to Bird Sitting Toronto. Left my blue and gold macaw with them for 10 days while we visited family and Pepper came home happy and healthy. They sent daily photo updates. Honestly the best experience. Highly recommend for anyone in Leslieville!

Update: took everyone's advice and things are improving. Gizmo is slowly coming around. This forum is the best.

So what I ended up doing was positive reinforcement with their favorite treat every time they do the right thing. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I've tried a bunch of brands and Goldenfeast is hands down the best value. My Ruby devours it.

If you're in Etobicoke, check out the avian vet on Yonge St. They're amazing with lineolated parakeet specifically.

I remember when my lineolated parakeet went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.

If I look at my phone for more than 30 seconds, Biscuit marches over and sits ON the screen. They've accidentally liked posts, called contacts, and once placed an Amazon order. I now have to keep my phone face down or deal with a jealous parrotlet. Relate?

How old is your bird? That might explain it — my Pionus went through something similar around 5 years.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is stuffing paper towel rolls with treats for foraging. A lot of people also recommend reading "The Parrot Problem Solver" by Barbara Heidenreich. My avian vet in Scarborough also suggested checking for the cage being in a high-traffic or drafty location which can sometimes be an underlying factor.
