New member — my Quaker parrot is my world
Hey welcome! You'll love this community. Feel free to ask anything, everyone here is super helpful!
Hi! I'm new here but definitely not new to birds. My Quaker parrot Mochi has been my companion for 3 years and I honestly can't imagine life without them. Just moved to Roncesvalles recently and looking to connect with other bird owners in the area. Happy to be here!
I've done a ton of research on this because my Quaker parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is hormonal season — spring is brutal. What worked for us was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. I also started rotating toys weekly so they always have something "new" and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
One thing that really helped was offering chop first thing in the morning when they're hungriest. Give it a try — can't hurt!
