Quaker parrot sneezing — when should I worry?

My Quaker parrot has been sneezing a few times a day for the past week. No discharge, still eating and playing normally. Could it be the dry winter air from heating? Or should I book a vet visit?

If you're near Hamilton, PetSmart on Dundas St actually has a decent bird section. Better than most locations.

I've done a ton of research on this because my Quaker parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is insufficient UV light exposure, especially in Canadian winters. What worked for us was rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. I also started giving warm food (like a warmed mash) on cold Toronto mornings and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

There's a great little shop in the Danforth that specializes in parrot supplies. Way better selection than the big chains.

I used to think the same thing until my Quaker parrot proved me wrong. Now I'm firmly in the other camp.

Have you noticed any other changes? When my Quaker parrot did this they were also being more vocal than normal.

Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My Quaker parrot finally stopped plucking chest feathers after I tried adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage.
