Teflon/PTFE hazards — nearly lost my bird
PSA for anyone who doesn't know — nonstick pans can KILL birds. I found out the hard way when I accidentally overheated a pan and my budgie got sick. Thankfully caught it in time. Please, if you have birds, switch to stainless steel or cast iron.
Did this start suddenly or was it gradual? When my budgie did this it turned out to be boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation.
I've done a ton of research on this because my budgie had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation. What worked for us was adding foraging opportunities to at least 3 different spots in the cage. I also started adding more variety in perch textures and sizes and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my budgie. Daily updates with photos and everything.
I just snorted coffee out of my nose reading this. My budgie is looking at me like I've lost it.
