After MONTHS of trying every trick in the book — chop, skewers, birdie bread, eating veggies in front of them, hiding them in other foods — my Hahn's macaw Fig ate a piece of broccoli today. OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL. I'm throwing a party. What finally worked: playing calming bird sounds from YouTube during the day. Don't give up!!!

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is switching from seed to Harrison's pellets gradually over 2 weeks. A lot of people also recommend setting up a webcam so I could check on them during the day. My avian vet in Vaughan also suggested checking for being moved to a new cage or new room which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck — feel free to DM me if you have questions!

Hello! Been lurking on this forum for a bit and finally decided to make an account and participate. I've had my eclectus Maple for about 18 months now. Always nice to connect with other bird people in the GTA — most people I know think I'm crazy for having a bird lol. Excited to be here!
