New here! Just got my first cockatiel
Nice to meet you! Always great to connect with fellow bird owners. You're going to fit right in here!
Hey everyone! I'm from Bloor West Village and I just brought home my first bird ever — a cockatiel named Peaches. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
I switched to TOP's pellets last year and haven't looked back. My cockatiel's feathers have never looked better.
My Luna went through a phase like this around 10 years. I was terrified but it passed. Birds are weird sometimes lol.
I got mine from Ren's Pets in Kitchener. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.
Totally agree with this! My cockatiel is exactly the same way.
Welcome to the club! My cockatiel trained ME in the first week. They're way smarter than they let on.
One thing that really helped was introducing new foods by eating them in front of the bird — monkey see monkey do. Give it a try — can't hurt!
My cockatiel did this too! Turned out it was because of hormonal season — spring is brutal. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.
