Rescued a Senegal parrot — need all the advice I can get!

Hi everyone! I recently adopted a rescue budgie from a shelter near Leslieville. Their name is Bean (the shelter named them but it stuck). They're a bit shy and don't trust easily — no idea what their previous situation was. I want to give them the absolute best life possible. Any tips for helping a rescue bird settle in and learn to trust again?

My Senegal parrot did this too! Turned out it was because of a dietary deficiency, especially calcium or vitamin A. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.

Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep — 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to jealousy of a new person, pet, or even object in the home because that was a huge factor for my Pickle. Hope that helps!
